Want to Become a Model?

Model Portfolio Photographers in Los Angeles & Hollywood

Are you …

  1. An aspiring model in Los Angeles or Southern California?
  2. Do you enjoy the idea of being in front of a camera?
  3. Dream of wearing the latest fashions?
  4. Crave walking down the runway in NYC or Paris?
  5. The idea of seeing your face in department stores, online or on billboards excite you?

How do you start a modeling portfolio?

Although not required, getting your “feet wet”, before diving-in, by shooting with a reputable modeling portfolio photographer might be a good idea!

Sergio Garcia Photography, is a modeling portfolio photographer in Los Angeles who has worked with the leading modeling agencies in the country, including IMG Models, DNA Model Management, Elite Models, FORD Models and Wilhelmina Models. Sergio is easy to work with, tries his best to make new, aspiring models, as comfortable as he can in front of the camera by guiding them throughout the entire process of the shoot. From what to wear, how to pose, where to look, and so fourth.

Working with top modeling agencies has given Sergio an eye to capture what the agencies and models agents are looking for to get their models noticed and working. Sergio has sat down with numerous agents representing both men, women and kids to listen to what it is that makes a model portfolio stand out (and you may be surprised to know it’s NOT what you think it is – ahem, ANTM).

How Do You Find a Modeling Portfolio Photographer?

When looking for a modeling portfolio photographer, it is important that you do your research and work with a photographer who has photographed … models!

Not a photographer who shoots weddings, enagagement, senior photos, food, cars, or your birthday parties. How are they going to know what is required or standard in a modeling portfolio? They aren’t.

If you are going to save up and spend the money, you may as well get it right the first time! Getting a modeling portfolio in place won’t be the cheapest expense (but not too expensive). Remember you are paying not only for images but for the professionals time, knowledge, and guidance; which is worth gold. but also studio time, retouching time, a wardrobe stylist, and a hair and make up artist goes into creating a solid modeling portfolio.

You are not going to get a reputable modeling portfolio that you are proud to show to your friends, families, and prospective modeling agencies you meet with for $100; it just doesn’t happen.

What To Do After You Find a Modeling Portfolio Photographer?

If you find a photographer who’s work you like and has a good reputation, and in your area or that you are willing to drive to, reach out to them.

Some questions you can consider asking them are below:

  1. Can I see past modeling work you have done?
  2. What modeling agencies have you worked with?
  3. Who is your hair and make up and styling team you usually work with?
  4. Where is your studio located, or where do you usually shoot?
  5. Can my parents come? (assuming under 18)
  6. What is your rate? What is included, and not included in your modeling portfolio packages/rates?
  7. What would you recommend we shoot for my modeling portfolio based on my look?
  8. What would you recommend I wear if I style myself?
  9. What should my hair and make-up look like?
  10. Will you help me and guide me throughout the entire process? I don’t know what to do with my hands, feet or face.

A photographer with experience will be able to answer all these questions thoroughly and with ease. Make sure you read any of their online reviews, too, if they have some.
